Nantucket's Daffodil Festival in the times of Covid-19
On Sunday, March 15, 2020 Town of Nantucket officials announced that, due to Gov. Charlie Baker’s statewide declaration of emergency and ban on gatherings of 50 or more, the annual Daffodil Festival at the end of April, and Memorial Day weekend Figawi sailboat race were canceled. This devastating news for many residents of the island came at the same time that Daffodils were begining to sprout, and the magic sounds of birds, returning for their summer season on-island, filled the air with the hope of spring.
Nantucket residents refused to be deterred by such news, and while being responsible and careful by obeying “social distancing” orders, they took to downtown, and Main Street in Sconset to welcome spring. ACK Distinctive Properties wants to thank all of Nantucket residents for their obedience to “social distancing” while at the same time giving us of hope that things, albeit changed forever, will come back to some form of normalcy in the not too distant future. Please enjoy these collection of photographs that reminds us what a special island this is.
