Clarification of Letter to Nantucket Seasonal Residents:
(April 29, 2020) A letter to seasonal residents from the Town of Nantucket, Nantucket Cottage Hospital, and the Nantucket Island Chamber of Commerce that was released on Monday appears to be causing confusion related to the scope of recommendations and its intent. Together, we feel it is important to clarify that the recommendation regarding quarantine for those travelling to Massachusetts pertains only to the timeframe of Governor Baker's orders which have now been extended through May 18 and was intended as information only for seasonal residents of Nantucket planning to return to the island while the orders are in place. The Nantucket Meat and Fish Market are open to the public for in-person shopping, or if you prefer, you can call in orders for curbside pick-up. Stop & Shop Downtown and Mid-Island have adjusted their hours to 7:30 am – 8:00 pm for the general public. They have special hours for senior citizens to shop from 6:00 am – 7:30 am. They ask that everyone respect their social distancing guidelines and wear protective masks while shopping.
